Steven van der Velden (Chairman & CEO)

Steven van der Velden, Chairman & CEO, has extensive entrepreneurial experience in logistics, telecommunications, e-commerce and investment management. He successfully started over a dozen companies. Mr. van der Velden is involved in various ICT ventures throughout Europe, North America, the Far East and Caribbean. He co-founded E-commerce Park NV in Curacao, which developed a 50,000 sq.ft. data centre and Internet hosting facility, the International Telemedia Association (known today as Network for Online Commerce), and InTouch Telecom SA/NV, where he served as CEO until the company was successfully sold to GTS in 1999. He earned his MBA from Rotterdam School of Management and his Master's Degree in Law from Leiden University.

 

Bruce Barren

Bruce Barren has personally been involved in more than 200 business turnarounds, representing more than $1 billion in annualized payroll. He has been honored in California by various municipal and county governments as well as the State Assembly, Senate, Offices of the State Treasurer, Controller and the Governor. He has received a number of U.S. Congressional Tributes, both from the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives. In 2000, he further received letters of commendation from then President Clinton and separately, by Vice President Al Gore plus in 2002 from President George W. Bush and separately, by Vice President Richard Cheney for his 35+ years of service to the country, his state and community. he has also been honored by 7 State governors and more than 16 times by the U.S. Congressional. In 2006, he further received a Certificate of honor from the People Republic of China and was the keynote speaker for the 2006 China Hotels Industry Development Forum.

 

Yves van Sante

Yves Van Sante (1960) studied Marketing, Communication and Commercial Management. He started his career in 1982 as an advisor at United Brokers and became sales manager for Brinkers International, the market leader in refining oil for the food industry, a year later. From 1987 until 1993 he served as Sales and Marketing manager Central Europe at 3C Communications in Luxemburg, where he launched Credit Card Telephony across Europe. Following this position, he became a business unit manager Public Telephony at Belgacom, the Belgium incumbent, where he managed a department of 650 employees and a € 40 million business. In 1994, together with Steven van der Velden, Yves co-founded InTouch Telecom. As its managing director he was responsible for business development, sales and marketing. In 1999, when achieving a turnover of € 25 million and having grown to 125 staff, InTouch was sold to GTS, a pan European Telecom operator. Yves became vice-president Business Services with GTS in London, where he consolidated acquisitions and turned the voice Telco around into an IP operator. In 2000 he became Managing Director of Eport, a call centre owned by the Port of Ostend. After six months Eport was sold to the Dutch call-centre Call-IT, and Yves became advisor to its Management Board. In 2002 Yves founded Q.A.T. Investments. Concurrently, he has held various Management and Board functions in companies in the QAT portfolio. He is a member of De Warande and member of the Board of Directors of Festival of Flanders. Yves lives in Belgium, is married and has a daughter.

 

Johan Dejager

Johan Dejager (1959) holds a degree in commercial engineering from the University of Louvain and an MBA from Insead Fontainebleau. Born in a family of entrepreneurs, he brings to QAT a profound and varied knowledge of Belgian industry. Johan is managing director and owner of several companies, including Osta Carpets - a specialized niche producer of area rugs with production plants in Belgium and a distribution center in Barcelona - and Gaverdal, a finishing plant for the carpet industry. In addition, he is shareholder and director of Keyware - a provider of identity-related solutions and services - and of Sparnex, an engineering company developing and industrializing DSL products for the telecom industry. Johan is a member of the board of Febeltex, the federation of the Belgian textile companies. As vice-president he is in charge of the subdivision of interior textiles. Johan lives in Belgium, is married and has two daughters and two sons. His hobbies include traveling, competitive show jumping, mountain biking, jogging, skiing and golf.

 

Roderick de Greef

Roderick de Greef has served on the Company Board of Directors since January 2008. Mr. de Greef is the principal of Taveyanne Capital Advisers, Inc., a firm providing corporate finance consulting services. Mr. de Greef has 25 years of business and financial experience, including 15 years of public company CFO experience. Most recently, Mr. de Greef has served as the Chief Financial Officer of Cambridge Heart from October 2005 to July 2007. Prior, Mr. de Greef served as the Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and Secretary of Cardiac Science, Inc. from March 2001 to September 2005. Since 2001, Mr. de Greef has been directly involved in raising in excess of $100 million from U.S. and international investors, and been involved in half a dozen M&A transactions totaling more than $350 million. Mr. de Greef also serves on the board of directors of Endologix, Inc., a public medical device company located in Irvine, California, and BioLife Solutions, Inc., a public life sciences company based in Bothell, Washington.

 

Willem Ackermans (CFO)

Willem Ackermans, Chief Financial Officer, has extensive experience in executive positions in finance and administration, IR, M&A, Joint Venture and new business development within the telecom industry throughout Europe and Asia. Mr. Mr. Ackermans served as Corporate Treasurer and Chief Financial Officer at KPN, the Dutch telecommunication company, and various large joint ventures affiliated with KPN. Mr Ackermans has extensive experience with entities listed on European stock exchanges as well as NYSE and NASDAQ. In 2001-2003 Mr. Ackermans served as CFO of Telemedia N.V. Following this, he served as Director of Corporate Development and Strategy at NV Nuon, a leading energy company in the Netherlands. Mr. Ackermans holds a Masters Degree in Engineering from the Dutch Technical University at Delft.

 

Martin Zuurbier (COO/CTO)

Martin Zuurbier, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Technical Officer, has over 12 years of direct experience in the telecommunications industry. He has been the Chief Operating Officer and Chief Technology officer of Benoit Telecom Holding AG, a telecom service provider in Europe. He served as director and founder of Vocalis Telecom Group located in The Netherlands and Switzerland. Mr. Zuurbier was responsible for building, maintaining and operating a telecommunications network spanning eight countries in Europe including all back-office billing and CRM capabilities. He was also instrumental in developing new switching technology.
